London 2012 Pre-Games training camps
Brunel University is delighted to be able to put its world class sports facilities and accommodation at the disposal of teams from around the world who are coming to contest the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Korean Olympic Training Camp
Brunel will play host to a major multi-sport preparation camp for the Korean Olympic Committee. The Korean team are the rising stars of Olympic Sport having finished 7th in the medal table at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2nd at the 2010 Asian Games, and 5th at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The Korean camp at Brunel will feature their most successful teams including; badminton, boxing, fencing, hockey, judo, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and wrestling. As well as facilities on campus the Korean team will also make use of the superb new sports facilities in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
The teams will arrive in mid-July and the camp will run until the end of the Games on 12 August.
Canadian Paralympic Training Camp
Brunel’s partnership with Athletics Canada and the Canadian Paralympic Committee will see the Canadian Paralympic athletics team use Brunel as their training base for a simulation camp in May and a final preparation camp in August.
Canadian athletes and coaches have already visited Brunel on fact-finding visits and in October 2011 they held a coaching seminar for students and West London coaches. We look forward to many more such collaborations and to supporting the team in their bid for Paralympic glory.
