From 2007 to 2008 he was employed as a research fellow at Brunel University and since October 2008 he is reading towards his PhD on the transferrability of methods and results in economic evaluations of healthcare programmes. This research forms part of the Multidisciplinary Assessment of Technology Centre for Healthcare (MATCH) Project. Previous research interests include the prioritisation of clinical preventive services and the adaption of US evidence to the UK, costing of attention deficit/-hyperactivity disorder, costing of a physical activity care pathway in primary care, and exploring contingent valuation of community based health insurance schemes in developing countries. Christian is also a German state-approved health insurance professional.

Christian has been awarded a supplementary PhD scholarship from the German National Merit Foundation. The scholarship provides access to a broad variety of activities, including summer universities, language schools, funding for field work, meetings, conferences etc.  It also provides a great opportunity to get in contact with scientists from Germany.

In 2010, Christian won both the Brunel University Student Employee of the Year 2010 Leadership Award and the London and the South East Regional Student Employee of the Year 2010 Leadership Award. Christian recieved this award not only because of his hard-work, but also due to his exceptional leadership skills demonstrated as a Senior Student Mentor of Brunel University.
