Biography

Louise Longworth is a Reader in Health Economics at Brunel University. She has previously held roles as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield, Research Fellow at Brunel University and Technical Advisor at the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). Louise was awarded a PhD in Health Economics by Brunel University in 2007 (‘Estimating quality adjusted life years where health-state utility data are missing’). She also has an MSc in Health Economics and a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics; both from the University of York. Her research interests relate to the economic evaluation of health care interventions; in particular, the measurement and valuation of health outcomes. Louise is a member of the NICE Decision Support Unit, which provides research and training support the NICE Technology Appraisal Programme. She has been a member of the EuroQol Group (a multi-national group of researchers interested in measuring quality of life) since 2001, and is a member of its Executive Committee. Starting in 2010, Louise has been appointed as a member of the NICE Technology Appraisal Committee.
 
 
Reasearch interest: Measurement and valuation of health outcomes, economic evaluation of health technologies and programme and the use of health economics in health care decision-making.
