Postgraduate CoursesEnvironmental ScienceInstitute for the EnvironmentEnvironmental training at Brunel University began over 30 years ago, operating as a dedicated Centre (and more recently Institute) since 1991. The Institute is a leader in postgraduate training in environmental management, environmental science, environmental technology, environmental change and ecotoxicology. Through its masters and flexible research degree programmes it has trained over 500 environmental practitioners, technologists, regulators, managers and consultants world-wide. The World Bank, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Ministry of Defence, Environment Agency and many other national environment agencies, ministries and other local bodies have sponsored professional staff onto the MSc programme from Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Nepal and Europe. Industry-sponsored students have come from the mining, aggregates, automotive, services and utility sectors through leading companies such as KPMG, Thames Water, Ford, Castle Cement and many more organisations committed to continuing professional development. All our MSc postgraduate programmes are accredited by the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM). Students will benefit from free student membership of CIWEM whilst studying on these accredited courses and consideration for transfer to Graduate or full Chartered membership on successful completion. Courses Currently Available:We offer a suite of MSc Degrees including from September 2008, a new programme Climate Change Impacts and Sustainability . Our full time course can be completed in one year, and you will attend the University for lectures on two full days a week (currently Tuesdays and Fridays) from September to March - 22 teaching weeks. The dissertation is completed in the third term, in the student's own time. Our part time course necessitates one day's attendance per week (currently Wednesdays) for two years, which can suit students who wish to combine studying with employment. Graduates from these Masters courses have an excellent record of obtaining employment in Industry, Government, Regulatory bodies, Universities and Environmental Consultancies both in the UK and worldwide. The tutors to the MSc courses are drawn from the staff and associates of the Institute and include visiting lecturers from the Environment Agency, Environmental Consultancies and Industry.
