Dr Paris received her PhD from the University of Surrey and specialises in live art, solo and one to one performance, the senses in performance, autobiography, site specific and queer performance.
Helen Paris is co director of Curious with Leslie Hill. Curious was formed in 1996 and has produced over 40 projects which have been shown and exhibited widely by such venues as the Sydney Opera House, the British Council Showcase at the Edinburgh Festival, Artist Links, Shanghai, the International Women’s Festival, Taipei, Psi New York, ISA, Arizona. The work includes performance, installation video and film and the company is know for its edgy, humorous interrogations of contemporary culture and politics, work which has been called ‘as smart as it is seductive’.

Recent work includes 'Fit to Survive?', the new short film broadcast on Channel 4 on the 12th of February (Darwin's 200th birthday) and screened at the Natural History Museum as part of the Darwin200 event, and a residency at the RSC Stratford. Curious are currently presenting their new performance the moment I saw you I knew I could love you which premiers at Chelsea Theatre, London, and their new film Sea Swallow’d working with acclaimed British film director Andrew Kotting. This work is funded by the Wellcome Trust and Arts Council England.
