Members of the HCDI undertake various research activities classified in research themes underlined below. The HCDI staff members support MSc or PhD study in any of the areas of speciality of the institute.
Augmented Cognition Systems: The design and evaluation of cognitive technologies, which act in partnership with humans, aiding or improving human performance.
Human Centred Design Process: Developing HCD through collaborative links with a wide range of industrial organisations and design consultancies.
Inclusive Design: Approaches and methods for designing products, services and environments so as to be usable by as many people as possible.
Information and Social Architectures: Designs structures and systems, which allow the user to understand complex data and interact in a suitable manner.
Perception Enhancement Systems: The development of systems which selectively amplify key environmental phenomena, to aid or increase human perception.
