School Experience Handbook

Student Group discussionPrimary ITT is located in the School of Sport and Education and managed by the Primary Partnership Management Group (PPMG). The partnership runs a one year primary PG (CERT) programme for KS1 and 2 (ages 5-11). Because of our location on the Uxbridge campus, the partnership includes schools from various geographical areas, including London Boroughs and some of the home counties. Our students are committed, enthusiastic and focused on the development of their teaching expertise. Our school-based tutors include a large number of experienced mentors and Professional Tutors, as well as a healthy flow of new mentors going through the induction procedures each year. University-based tutors are experts in their subjects, with relevant experience of teaching in primary schools.

The partnership continually strives to improve its practice. Our major priorities are to ensure that all members of the partnership are clear about their roles, are trained to fulfil these roles and have access to up-to-date documentation to support their work. In other sections of this website you will find details of:

  • the Partnership Agreement which sets out the responsibilities of the partners;
  • partnership meetings which provide a forum to consider issues raised through formal and informal monitoring of work;
  • mentor and Link Tutor training programmes

The Children's Plan

The Government wants to make this country the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up. The Children's Plan sets out how the Department for Children, Schools and Families is going to achieve that - by putting the needs of families, children and young people at the centre of everything we do.
