The CCNI occupies over 5200 square feet (480m2) of office and lab space at Brunel University in  newly extended facilities on the Uxbridge campus to the west of London. Facilities for analysing fMRI studies are unrivalled. A new cluster of five 64-bit workstations for fMRI analysis are backed up by a secure 2Tb fileserver.
CCNI has a 20% stake in CUBIC (Combined Universities Brain Imaging Centre). Other partners in CUBIC are Royal Holloway, Surrey and Reading. CUBIC is a £1.5 million imaging facility funded from SRIF.
The CCNI houses a number of dedicated experimental laboratories, including one for infant research in visual and cognitive development.
The CCNI includes a psychophysics lab and an EEG lab with 32 and 64 channel systems. These Neuroscan systems are complemented by an MRI compatible EEG system installed at CUBIC.
The CCNI also has a stake in the BIT Lab, Brunel’s £2 million virtual reality centre, used for motion capture and animation.
The CUBIC facility consists of a 3T Siemens MRI system. An 8 track head coil allows for high resolution imaging and rapid image acquisition. The scanner includes an infra-red eye movement monitoring system, visual, auditory and tactile stimulus presentation, and a surface coil for high-resolution imaging of posterior cortex.
