SCORBEND

SCORBEND is a development of the SCOREX process enabling pipe bending at the die with little or no distortion of the cross-section. Any bend angle can be programmed with no additional tooling costs.

How SCORBEND works:

SCORBEND

The process is a simple extension of the SCOREX principle. The SCOREX process generates a ridgid extrudate in the die which enables it to be maintained mechanically. The pipe is pushed sideways as it leaves.

Application of slight lateral pressure to the solid extrudate restricts the flow of material on one side and speeds up output on the other side within the specially designed SCORBEND die. The bend is formed with the same geometry as the straight sections. Bends as tight as 1.2 times the pipe diameter have been achieved using this process.

Advantages of SCORBEND:

  • Generation of bends in extruded parts
  • Uniformity of section thickness
  • Scalable to large sections
  • Programmable angle of bend
  • Possibility of complex 3D bend geometries

Potential applications of SCORBEND:

  • Pressure pipe fittings
  • Short run productions
  • One-off curved sections and profiles
  • Large diameter and tailor-made pipe bends for utilities supply industries
