Appointment of the Chancellor and the Pro-Chancellor

Preamble
Statutes 3.1-3.3 confirm the authority to appoint the Chancellor, the terms of office that might be served and the conditions by which the resignation or dismissal may be effected. This Ordinance sets out the process by which the appointment of the Chancellor and the Pro Chancellor may be made.
13.1 Council shall require Nominations Committee to oversee the process for selecting a successor to the Chancellor and the Pro-Chancellor and to recommend to Council a candidate for appointment. Nominations Committee shall also, if appropriate, recommend to Council the appointment of a person to serve as Acting Chancellor.
13.2 Nominations Committee shall comprise:
- Chair of Council (Chair);
- the Deputy Chair of Council
- two independent members of Council;
- Vice Chancellor;
- the Vice Principal
13.3 The Secretary to Council shall be the Secretary to Nominations Committee. Nominations Committee may appoint Advisers as appropriate.
13.4 Nominations Committee shall have freedom to determine the most appropriate way to conduct its business, but issues relating to terms and conditions of the Chancellor or Pro-Chancellor are reserved for Council.
