| The Uxbridge Campus Masterplan is providing the University with an exciting opportunity to expand and enhance existing buildings and the external environment, delivering improvements that build on the strengths of the progressive 1960's campus design.
A Pedestrian Spine running the length of the Campus from the new entrance at the
Eastern Gateway on Kingston Lane past the River Pinn corridor residential development, into the
Central Academic Area, and through to Cleveland Road and now acts as the backbone of the University.
The new Eastern Gateway is now the primary arrival point for vehicles. Gateway buildings, around this entrance, will open onto the central spine and create a formal sense of arrival.
The other buildings around the Eastern Gateway promote Brunel sport - the recently completed Indoor Athletics Centre, indoor Netball Hall and fully refurbished Sports Centre.
Westward along the Pedestrian Spine is the
Central Academic Area. This was the centre of campus built in the late 1960s. The Lecture Centre has been fully refurbished and the recent redevelopment of the Refectory/Students' Union Building also contributes to the increased interaction along the Pedestrian Spine and into the Central Plaza. The new Bannerman Centre has dramatically improved library, teaching and welfare facilities. |
