John Hunt was Assistant Medical Officer on the foundation of the University in 1966. He later became Medical Oificer and was the principal mover in establishing a medical practice within the University. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the University's psychiatric and counselling services. He retired as full-time Medical Officer in 1979 but continued to be involved in the work of the Medical Centre on a part-time basis until November 1994.
