Trevor Baylis

Trevor Baylis was born in 1937 in Kilburn, but grew up in Southall. His father was an engineer who taught him how to use hand tools and he completed an HNC in Mechanical and Structural Engineering at Southall Technical College. After National Service, where he swam for the Army and Imperial Services, he developed a varied career in the swimming pool business, working as a stunt-man in TV shows for Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, before developing the Clockwork Radio for which he is now famous in the UK and Africa in particular. He was awarded the OBE in 1997.
