Honorary Fellows - 2000

Mrs Marjorie Bunn

Until recently Marjorie Bunn was Departmental Administrator for the Department of Human Sciences at Brunel, a post that she held for 17 years. She has been awarded a Fellowship for her exceptional contribution to University life.

Mr Martin Cantrell

Martin Cantrell works in the Office of the Solicitor to the Departments of Social Security and Health and is also a part- time lecturer in employment law at Brunel. He has been awarded a Fellowship for his strong support for work placements in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Mr Mike Chapman

Mike Chapman is currently Vice-Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Hillingdon Primary Care NFIS Trust. He is a Brunel graduate and is Secretary of the Borough Road College "Old B's Association" - it is for this role that he has been awarded a Fellowship.

Mr Nick Childs

Nick Childs was University Librarian at Brunel for 25 years, until his retirement in 1992. He has been awarded a Fellowship for his contributions to University life and strengthening of its connections to Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Major Trevor Clifton

Since his retirement from the Army in 1990, Trevor Clifton has managed a sailing school, commanded a military adventurous sail training unit and taken part in the Fastnet race. He has been awarded a Fellowship for the development and organisation of management training programmes involving Brunel students.

Mr Frank Coates

Frank Coates joined the maintenance team at Brunel in 1976 and transferred to a technician post in the Chemistry Department in 1987 - a post he held until his retirement in 1996. He has acted as the University's Mace Bearer at degree congregations since 1994 - and it is for this service that he has been awarded a Fellowship.

Professor Bob Gibbon

Bob Gibbon is Divisional Chief Executive of McKechnie Plc. He also holds the post of Honorary Professor Associate in the Department of Systems Engineering at Brunel. He is currently Chair of the Department's Industrial Liaison Forum and has been awarded a Fellowship for his support for the Department.

Mrs Rosalind Goodfellow

Rosalind Goodfellow was a member of the BFSS (British and Foreign School Society) Council and a Governor of West London Institute. She was a member of Brunel University Council from 1995-2000. She has been awarded a Fellowship for her services to the University's governance and her support for the University generally.

Mr Richard Hales

Richard Hales, currently a Project Manager in the financial sector, holds BTech and MPhil degrees from Brunel. He was the first full-time sabbatical President of the Students' Union (1967/68) and was cofounder of the Brunel University Graduates' Association, with which he is still involved today. He has been awarded a Fellowship for his services to University life.

Mrs Christine Hawes

Christine Hawes is Training and Development Manager for Richmond Social Services. She is Deputy Chair of the Department of Social Work's Diploma in Social Work programme and is involved in other activities within the Department. For her services to and support of the Department of Social Work at Brunel, she has been awarded a Fellowship.

Mrs Sue John

Sue John is Headteacher at Lampton School in Hounslow and has worked closely with the Department of Education at Brunel to develop initial teacher education provision in the secondary sector. For her contribution to and support of the Department of Education she has been awarded a Fellowship.

Councillor Maurice Lancaster

Maurice Lancaster worked in marketing and sales with HG Heinz until his retirement in 1987 and was elected to Hillingdon Borough Council in 1990. He is currently a Councillor for Ruislip Ward and was Mayor in 1999/2000. He has been awarded a Fellowship for his regular participation in University events and support for the University.

Councillor Alf Langley

Alf Langley worked in the gas industry for 43 years until his retirement in 1984. He has been a Hillingdon Councillor for 15 years and was Mayor in 1992/93 and 1998/99. He has been awarded a Fellowship for his regular participation in University events and support for the University.

Miss Anne Murdoch

Anne Murdoch, former Head of the London School of of Occupational Therapy, entered higher education in 1980 when the School joined West London Institute. She was head of Occupational Therapy at West London until her retirement in 1988. She has been awarded a Fellowship for her services to the development of Occupational Therapy within the Department of Health Studies at Brunel and nationally.

Dr Jim Nodes

Jim Nodes joined Brunel in 1963. He was Acting Head of the Department of Biology and Biochemistry in 1990/91. During his 30 years at Brunel he was a member of many University committees and boards. A Fellowship has been awarded to Jim Nodes for his loyalty and outstanding service. 

Professor David Reedman

David Reedman is an industrialist who has worked at ICI and British United Shoe Machinery Ltd. He held the post of Visiting Professor in the Department of Systems Engineering from 1996-99 and is currently Associate Professor. He established the Department's successful Industrial Liaison Forum, which he chaired for three years. For his support for the Department of Systems Engineering he has been awarded a Fellowship.

Mr Tim Rome

Tim Rome is Headteacher of Lovelace Primary School in Chessington and has worked closely with the University's Department of Education to develop initial teacher education provision in the primary sector. He has been awarded a Fellowship for his contribution to and support of the Department of Education.

Dr Sam Tucker

Sam Tucker is a Consultant Paediatrician. He is Director of the Hillingdon Hospital/Brunel University Postgraduate Centre and has organised Brunel/Hillingdon Hospital lectures. For this work and other contributions to University life Sam Tucker has been awarded a Fellowship. 

Reverend David Wilson

David Wilson was ordained in 1965 and became Vicar of St Mary's, Osterley, in 1984. He was Chaplain at West London Institute/Brunel until earlier this year and was, during that time, a committed member of the Chaplaincy Committee. For over 15 years' service to the spiritual life of staff and students at Osterley and Twickenham campuses, David Wilson has been awarded a Fellowship.
