Ann Wild

Ann Wild, who captained the British team in the Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000 Paralympics, is a Brunel Occupational Therapy graduate who now works for the Tower Hamlets Primary Trust.

She began playing wheelchair basketball at the age of 10 and, by the age of 13, she had played in her first senior international game. Twenty-two years later she is now one of the most successful female players this country has ever produced.

Ann has competed in the Seoul, Atlanta, Sydney and Athens Paralympics and since 1993 has captained the Great Britain Women's Wheelchair Basketball team. Titles include the Women's National League, the Big 8 competition, the Andre Vergauwen European Tournament and the National Wheelchair Games.

Honoured as a "legend of the game" in the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation's (IWBF)'s “The 50th Anniversary of Wheelchair Basketball," by Horst Strohkend, Ann was also voted Most Valuable Player in Europe, in the 2003 European championships.

In 2004 she received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the University following her performance at Athens 2004, where her team reached the quarter-final.
