Student Parking Conditions – Summary 2012/13
This summary is designed as a brief overview for students only and must be read in conjunction with the Traffic, Parking and Permit Regulations 2012/13 which are in force at all times. Vehicles parked in contravention of the Traffic, Parking and Permit Regulations will be issued with a Parking Charge Notice.
Pay and Display
Pay and Display parking is available to all students subject to availability charged at 50p per hour 8am–4.30pm Monday to Friday within marked Pay and Display bays only. A valid ticket must be purchased and displayed in the vehicle whilst parked in a Pay and Display bay – please note that Annual and Temporary/Daily Vehicle permits are not valid in Pay and Display bays.
Annual vehicle permits for students
Eligibility: To be eligible for a permit you must be living more than 2 miles from the campus and fully enrolled. Students resident on campus are not entitled to a permit unless they hold a valid registered disabled badge. Please note that many local roads are subject to controlled parking schemes; the nearest public car parks are located in Uxbridge town centre (The Chimes).
Permit Cost: Annual permit costs are currently £93 – payable in advance. Holders of a valid registered disabled badge are not charged. Student Permits are valid for the registration shown on the permit, in standard white bays in the areas identified for student parking only. Student Permits are not valid for use in: spaces marked with a RED dot; reserved spaces (marked in green); pay and display; disabled bays (unless displaying a valid disabled person’s badge). NB: Possession of a vehicle permit does not guarantee a parking space. All permits are issued on a licence to hunt basis only. It is anticipated that demand will exceed supply.
Disabled Students: Students with a valid registered disabled badge are entitled to obtain a permit free of charge. The two mile restriction does not apply to disabled students.
Refunds: Refunds are available only once a permit has been surrendered and will be calculated on the basis of any full terms remaining unused. No refunds are available after the Easter break.
Barrier access: Access at the barriers will be added to your id card by the Student Centre when your Annual Permit is issued. Please note that if your Annual Permit expires or is invalidated this access will be removed. If you enter the campus with an invalid permit you are at risk of being issued with a Parking Charge Notice.
Replacement / Temporary Permits
- Change of car registration: Replacement permits are issued by the Student Centre on production of the original permit. There is an admin fee of £5 for a replacement permit.
- Lost / stolen permits: may be replaced at the discretion of the university. An admin charge of £10 will be charged for the replacement.
- Temporary permits: Annual permit holders can obtain a temporary permit from the Student Centre if you need to use a different car for a day or two (for example if your car is being serviced or repaired).
- Cancelled / Suspended Permits: The Security Team will be notified of any cancelled and void permits. A Parking Charge Notice may be applied to any vehicle displaying an invalid permit.
Parking in the evenings and at weekends
If you only need to park on campus after 4.30pm and before 8am Monday – Friday, or at any time on a Saturday or Sunday; you can apply for “out of hours” access. There is no charge for this (no permit is issued). You are still required to adhere to the Traffic, Parking and Permit Regulations in force at the time.
