Creative Writing Minor Project

Module Code: EN3030
Module Leader: Sarah Penny

The Minor Project in Creative Writing allows you to work independently, with the help of one-to-one tutorials with the a member of the creative writing staff, to produce a short work in one of the disciplines studied in previous years – fiction, poetry, journalism, drama or screenwriting.

The Minor Project gives you the opportunity to produce a substantial work in a field which attracts you but which you do not intend to choose for your Special Project. You can build on the experience and teaching of the past two years to explore your talents in more depth. You will be able to enjoy a contrasting style of writing and strengthen the study and personal management skills which you will need to employ in your longer piece.

You should not choose the same discipline as that selected for your Special Project. A tutor will be assigned to you. You should discuss your initial ideas with them before submitting your Plan and you should aim to meet them 3 – 4 times during Term 1. If enough students are working in the same field, we will organise a workshop group to give you more feedback and support.

Core Texts

Texts will be set in dialogue with the tutor.
