Film and TV

Film and TV offers exciting and innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses taught by a team of enthusiastic staff who have published widely on their subjects. We put a high priority on links between teaching and research, which means you’ll be taught directly by authorities in the field. You’ll also be able to benefit from our contacts with industry and have opportunities to gain work experience.

Our BA in Film and TV Studies gives you the chance to examine a wide range of material and to combine critical and practical approaches to the field. Our programme is very up-to-date, with a particular focus on contemporary film and television. Up to 40% of your study can come from practical modules that benefit from recent investment in new cameras, edit suites and teaching spaces.

We also offer a well-established MA in Documentary Practice, the practical side of which is taught by a range of working professional documentary filmmakers.

Our new MA in Media and Public Relations offers an innovative combination of theory and practice. Another distinctive feature is a focus that includes analysis of the use of public relations and marketing by media organizations.

We can also supervise MPhil and PhD research in a wide range of areas of film and television, including practice-based work.
