Research
Research in Film and TV Studies is coordinated by the Screen Media Research Centre, the members of which have established a substantial body of internationally recognized work in film, television and areas of digital media including videogames.
In the last Research Assessment Exercise, 96 per cent of the centre’s output was rated of international signifiance or above.
The centre is also home to the Cult Film Archive, an internationally recognized resource dedicated to the study of a range of cult films, and Cine Excess, an annual combination of cult film conference and festival. Cine-Excess has also developed its own DVD label in a unique educational/commercial collaboration with Nouveaux Pictures, initial release of which included the first Blu-Ray release of the Dario Argento classic Suspiria.
Cine-Excess V, in 2011, included the global theatrical premiere of a new director’s cut of the hotly debate horror classic Cannibal Holocaust
