In my role as Digital Content Producer for the anti-poverty charity ActionAid, I manage one-off projects for the actionaid.org.uk website and look after the organisation's social networks – Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. A huge part of my job is to make sure our videos of the people we work with in developing countries are optimised for the web, both from a content point of view (storytelling, narrative, brand) but also digital promotion – SEO, PR, marketing. Prior to ActionAid, I worked for health charity Asthma UK and multimedia production company Ignite Creative TV – filming, editing and producing videos alongside web editorial duties.

Brunel's Film and TV course helped tremendously in teaching me about the history behind film, the importance of 'the story' and most importantly how the moving image can inspire emotion and action. All modules throughout the course built up my knowledge both from a theoretical and practical level. The practical modules especially helped in allowing us students to be creative with a video camera and editing suites, and taught us the importance of teamwork and collaboration – even when others had wacky and wild ideas!
