Thomas Ryan
Subject area: Screen Media
Course: MA in Cult Film & BA Film and Television
Level: Undergraduate; Postgraduate
The BA FTV is taught by lecturers who are published and active in their field of study. What impressed me most was their willingness and encouragement for students to explore their own film and TV topics, even if not directly taught within the syllabus. This surely reflects a genuine interest from the tutors in their students and openness to new concepts and ideas.
The three year course commenced with introductory modules providing an understanding into the history and developments of the Hollywood industry. In the second and third year modules become more intensive and mature in their themes. The FTV BA at Brunel University is highly recommended for those aiming to gain solid appreciation of the film and television industry. I acquired excellent research and time management skill, learnt how to express myself coherently, as well as meeting tutors who will leave a lasting impression for years to come.
Born and raised in Australia, I had always wanted to study at university and so at the age of 25 applied for the BA in Film and Television Studies to further develop my appreciation of the Arts and gain an academic qualification. The BA FTV at Brunel University has proven to be a most rewarding and fulfilling personal journey which inspired me to study the MA in Cult Film at Brunel. All in all it has been a wonderful time.
