When I was younger I saw a picture of a child with a speech bubble that read, ‘when I grow up I want to be a musician’, and a mother replying ‘that’s lovely, but you can’t do both’…

My time at Brunel prepared me to absolutely always do both, and I think this can only be put down to the staff. Their lives as working musicians were on view to us students, and that was communicated in the broad range of lectures. Thanks to them I was able to have my final year composition performed by a professional orchestra in a professional setting; to do work experience with composers at the BBC and ITV; to make recordings using excellent equipment, and to attend professional concerts that often had one of them playing in. I became inspired and I grew up.

Now I tour internationally with both music that I have written and with other bands, and I have released four albums of my own music that I sell around the world. I work like a dog to be a musician, but like dogs I am generally very happy!
