In 2009, I graduated from Brunel with a BA in Creative Music and Technology. Now, I am a Systems Engineer with Apple living in New York City.

During my first year at Brunel, I started working part time in an Apple Retail Store where my studies at Brunel helped me to become focused on audio solutions.

I took a placement year between my second and third years and I was able to combine my experiences working at Apple and the knowledge gained from my studies to find an internship at Apple on the UK Systems Engineering team. I was supporting a small group of experts who talk to large customers about how Apple technology can make a difference to their organisation. My knowledge of audio technology was my way in.

I was able to continue my internship whilst completing my final year at Brunel and to my enormous good fortune, I got a full time position on the team when I graduated.

Time passed happily, and at the end of 2011, I was able to relocate to New York City and work as a Systems Engineer focused on the iPhone and iPad.

In a large part, the opportunities that I was able to take advantage of where a result of the breadth of experiences I had at Brunel. I know that being immersed in the life of the School of Arts enabled me to begin building the technical and soft skills I needed to be successful at work. It was the stuff around my studies; the playing, recording, organising, filming, fetching and carrying that made the biggest difference to me.
