Karan, Lord Bilimoria CBE, DL
Karan, Lord Bilimoria CBE, DL is the founder and Chairman of the Cobra Beer Partnership, a joint venture with Molson Coors. Cobra is the UK’s most popular Indian beer, one of the fastest growing beer brands, and is exported to almost 50 countries. In addition Karan is the Chairman of Molson Coors Cobra India, which produces beer for the Indian market.
Among a great many public and private appointments, Karan is the founding chairman of the UK-India Business Council, a member of the UK-India Roundtable, and of the Prime Minister of India’s Global Advisory Council. He is also the Senior Non-Executive Director at Booker PLC, a FTSE 250 company. He is one of the first two Visiting Entrepreneurs ever appointed at Cambridge University, and sits on the advisory boards of the Cambridge University Judge Business School, the Cranfield School of Management, and the Birmingham University Business School. He is also an Honorary Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his contributions to business, enterprise, charity, education and the Indo-British relationship, including the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, awarded by the President of India.
In June 2006, Karan became the first Zoroastrian Parsee ever to be appointed to the House of Lords, where he sits as an Independent Crossbench Peer.
