Best Event
At Brunel Business School, we believe it is up to us to do everything we can to help our students. We therefore try very hard to ensure that by the time our students graduate they are equipped:
- not only with a thorough knowledge of up to date business and management theory and practice, but equally importantly
- the hard and soft skills needed to land that all important first job.
With this aim in mind, Brunel Business School has developed the BEST event (BEST stands for Brunel Enterprising Student Talent) designed to offer our students the chance to:
- hear from a number of motivational speakers including former students
- develop their networking skills - so essential in today’s difficult employment market
Seeking help from employers
Every year we seek help from employers to help ensure the event is a success. We welcome employers who are willing to:
- deliver presentations on the current jobs market and any aspect of the graduate recruitment process
- participate in the final session of the BEST event: ‘networking for real’
Although the Business School works closely with Brunel University’s Careers & Placement Centre to organise the BEST event, it is most definitely not a conventional careers fair and it is made clear to our students that employers will not necessarily have any job vacancies. The whole aim of the ‘networking for real’ session is for it to be a fun session (albeit with a serious purpose). It is therefore be conducted under ‘speed networking’ rules. (Students will have just a few minutes to introduce themselves and to try to find areas of mutual interest with you before being asked to move on.)
Meet enthusiastic business and management students
Although the last networking session of the BEST event is informal, it will still give you the opportunity of meeting a number of enthusiastic, knowledgeable business and management students, one or more of whom might be just right for your organisation.
The opportunity for you to network too
And of course the BEST event will also give you the chance to network yourself with other business people … and you might just pick up some networking tips yourself.
