Robin Jarvis, Professor in Accounting, Business School, has been a member of the Chartered Banker Professional Standards Board (CB:PSB) for five years which is chaired by Lady Susan Rice. Professor Jarvis is also the Chair of the CB:PSB’s year old Advisory Panel which is made up of users including the CBI, the Federation of Small Business, the Association of Corporate Treasurers and Hermes Investment Management.

In the CB:PSB’s progress report for 2016, Professor Jarvis writes an article about the aims and objectives of the Advisory Panel and states, “The Panel believes customer confidence in the banking profession should be restored.”

The fundamental aim of the CB:PSB initiative is to change the culture of bankers, after the mis-selling and other scandals, through the adoption of banking standards and to support the professional development of bankers. The organisation issued their first standard, Foundation Standard, around two years ago and 245,986 bankers in the UK have now achieved this and CB:PSB anticipate the issue of their Leadership Standard for senior bankers in the coming year will also be fruitful.
