EDAMBA accreditation for Brunel Business School
The Brunel Business School has just learnt that its application for accreditation by the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA) had been unanimously approved by EDAMBA’s Executive Committee. This announcement follows an audit by EDAMBA, where detailed documentation prepared for the visit was scrutinised by the audit team, with staff and students then questioned about the PhD programme within the Business School.
The Head of BBS comments, “I am delighted with the news, over the last two years we have seen the meteoric growth of our PhD programme: numbers have grown from 16 to a current population of well over 100. This is evidence that the Business School is developing its research activities and living up to the strategy of the University to be research Intensive.”
EDAMBA is a prestigious organisation that helps its member schools to increase the quality of their PhD programmes, as well as to create an environment of excellence with a European perspective, all the while pursuing diversity.
To be granted membership, business schools need to have a significant number of students on a business and management doctoral programme and be able to demonstrate that they also have a significant number of qualified academics who can act as PhD supervisors. Current UK members include other leading business schools such as Aston, Bradford, Henley, Lancaster, LBS and Warwick.
“This confirms our status, through peer review, as one of the largest high quality providers of a Doctoral Programme within any Business School in Europe,” commented Prof Raymond Hackney, Director of Doctoral Programmes within the Business School.” The Business School is set to maintain its growth of PhD students, facilitated by its move into the Eastern Gateway building.
