Abstract: This seminar will try to show the genesis and the main characteristics of the Francophone Organization Studies field and present its originality among the contemporary OS field.

Biography: Jean-François Chanlat is Full Professor at université Paris-Dauphine since 2001. He has been Professor at HEC-Montréal between 1982-2001. He has been Guest Professor in numerous universities in the world mainly Europe, Latin America and Africa. He was between 1994 and 2006 President elected of the RC 17 "Sociology of Organizations" of the International Sociological Association and cochairman of the Business and Society Committee of the International Association of the French speaking Sociologists. He has published numerous books, chapters of books and journal articles around the main following topics : Comparative organization Theory, Anthropology of Organizations, Business Anthropology, Cross-cultural Management and Organizational Stress. His work has been published in different languages : French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.He is presently scientific co-chairman of Dauphine Management and Diversity Chair and members of several scientific associations and journal editorial boards.
