Although past justice work has portrayed fairness evaluations as being reflective of summary assessments of a particular experience, less attention has been given to the formation of such evaluations. As research suggests that certain defining features of experiences, such as the level and intensity of past treatment or social relationships with others, influence overall justice judgments, research exploring patterns in the development of individual and team justice perceptions is needed to advance our understanding of the meaning and import of justice. This presentation will discuss theory and research supporting justice as a gestalt characteristic, and directions for future research in this area.
