BCAST professor receives TMS Light Metals subject award
BCAST Professor Dmitry Eskin recently received a Light Metals Subject award from the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS). The Warren Peterson Cast Shop for Aluminum Production award recognizes the individual excellence of a paper within the Light Metals area. The award was received in relation to Professor Eskin’s published work on ‘Cold cracking during Direct-Chill casting’, co-authored by M. Lalpoor and L. Katgerman; published in Light Metals Journal in 2011. Professor Eskin says the award is meaningful to him, as it recognizes the development of professionals in the field of casting and solidification. One of only three recipients in the category, Professor Eskin is well-known as a specialist in physical metallurgy and solidification processing of light alloys. Recently, Professor Eskin was also appointed editor of the Journal of Alloys and compounds and given responsibility for the Light Metals area. November 2012.
