About Mingxu

Dr Xia joined BCAST as Research Fellow in 2007. He graduated with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in September, 2006, which led to the award of Excellent Research Findings of Shanghai in 2008. His PhD research focused on the formation and properties of Bulk Metallic Glasses (BMG) and he developed a set of thermodynamic criteria for the design of BMG. he has also involved with semisolid technology of Mg alloys.

Dr Xia conducts research to develop Melt Conditioned Forming Technologies including Melt Conditioned High Pressure Die Casting (MC-HPDC), Melt Conditioned Direct Chilling Casting (MC-DC), Melt Conditioned Twin Roll Casting (MC-TRC), MC-DC-Extrusion and Rheo-Extrusion (RE). His major research focus is on the solidification behaviours of Mg and Al alloys under different conditions and their effects on the deformation and invalidation.
