About Prasadd
Dr Prasadd Ayyagari (Dr AK Prasada Rao) joined BCAST as a Sapa Research Fellow in March 2011. He completed his doctoral degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (www.iitkgp.ac.in) in 2006. His PhD research focused on grain refinement and modification of hypoeutectic Al-Si alloys. He developed and patented a novel master alloy (a MODIFINER) which can result in a combined grain-refinement and modification of hypoeutectic Al-Si alloys. Dr. Prasadd also worked on Microstructure Vs Tribological property correlations of the Al-7Si alloy. From 2006~2009, Dr. Prasadd worked at Pohang University of Science and Technology at Korea (www.postech.ac.kr), where he developed a new technology of producing Mg-alloy strips with aluminium cladding layer using twin-roll strip casting process, which is a patentable work. Dr. Prasadd was invited to College of North Atlantic-Qatar campus during 2009~2010 to set-up a new aluminium research centre in order to train the Qatari students in aluminium casting technology. For a few semesters Dr. Prasadd taught Under-graduate Engineering students at Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (India) in the capacity of a Professor.
His current research focuses on application of advanced techniques of liquid metal processing in DC casting of aluminium alloys.
