About Peter

Mr Caton joined us as an industrial research fellow in 2000.

Mr Caton studied from 1961 to 1964 at Fitzwilliam House, Cambridge to obtain his M.A. in Natural Sciences – Pt II Metallurgy. During this time, he worked at the British Non-Ferrous Metals Research Association, UK, and continued to do so until 1975 at which time he began working at the Fulmer Research Institute, as a Section Manager/Senior Research Associate. In 1988, he became the General Manager/Technical Director of Magnesium Services Limited / Diemakers Limited, UK. Then in 1997 he moved on to Breed Steering Systems, UK, as the Diecasting Manager and set up World’s first fully automated magnesium diecasting cell for manufacture of steering wheel frames. 

His current interests are in light metals technology, in particular, in the component production processes. He has published numerous articles in technical journals and given presentations at international conferences and seminars.
