Scale-up

Most chromatography processes are difficult to scale up, but the liquid flow processes in the ABC, scale up remarkably well by just increasing the bore of the tubing.  Of course as the tubing bores get bigger the centrifuges themselves get bigger, but the magnitude of the force field is always kept the same, from the Mini centrifuge (tubing bore 0.8mm) through to the Maxi centrifuge (tubing bore 10mm).  The full range of centrifuges available in the ABC is given below. The difference between linear and volumetric scale-up is given in Section 3.1 while the predictability of scale-up is given in Section 3.2. Finally Section 3.3 discusses analytical to process scale technologies.
