Funding
Funding of postgraduate research is greatly varied in the Institute. Some research is directly funded through UK research bodies, mainly the EPSRC and BBSRC, while other is funded locally, e.g. the Isambard Kingdom Brunel scholarship, through scholarships made available by trusts and charities, e.g. the British Heart Foundation, or scholarship programmes announced through the national engineering councils, e.g. a BBSRC Case studentship. A number of students are self-funded, either through scholarships being made available in their home countries or through personal funding.
