Dr Selcuk is currently the Manager of Brunel Innovation Centre (BIC), established in 2009 jointly with Brunel University and TWI where he has championed several collaborative initiatives that span across a range of industry sectors with a particular focus on particulate engineering, and has secured significant R&D funding.
Following his PhD from the University of Nottingham and after taking part in a multi-national EU project as a Research Associate, he moved into industry as a project manager in product/process and technology development.
He has over 65 citations to his publications in peer reviewed journals covered by Science Citation Index, presented at numerous international conferences, and contributed as a referee.
Dr Selcuk is specialised in materials design in the field of powder metallurgy and metal matrix composites. His main area of interest includes development of alternative materials processing techniques and technology transfer, with an emphasis on the relationship between processing, structure and properties of materials. He is currently focusing on innovation of advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and their automation for a wide range applications in industry.
He is an active professional member of EPMA, APMI, IOM3 and The Welding Institute, where he sat on the Younger Members Committee. Until recently he was the secretary for the Materials Technical Group of the Welding and Joining Society. Dr. Selcuk is the present secretary for the Particulate Engineering Committee of the IOM3 and also sits on the Defence, Safety and Security Committee of the IOM3.
