Abbas Mohimi received a BEng (Hons) degree in electrical and electronics engineering from London South Bank University in 2007.

From 2007 to 2011 he worked at TWI Ltd. He started as a Project Leader and worked in the Specialist Materials and Joining Section, where he mainly worked on ceramic materials and ceramic joining techniques, such as brazing, soldering, diffusion bonding and also friction surfacing onto ceramics. In 2010 he joined the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) group at TWI as a Senior Project Leader and worked on delivering research projects in the Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) field.

In 2011 he joined Brunel University as a research assistant. He is based at Brunel Innovation Centre where he is responsible for delivering research projects, and also studying for a Ph.D. with the School of Engineering and Design. His current research interests include LRUT of pipes, ultrasonic transducers for NDT, high temperature condition monitoring and high temperature piezoelectric materials. Abbas is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of The Welding Institute.
