The Commercial Law Research Centre was first established at Brunel in 1982 as the Consumer and Commercial Law Centre with financial support from the EU Commission Consumer Policy Service. This groups enjoys an international reputation. It has placed emphasis on collaboration with similar organisations in the EU, and firm links are now established with universities in most member states, especially France (Montpellier), Germany (Bremen) and Denmark (Aarhus). Recently links have been forged with Canada (Montreal) and the USA (Houston, Texas).

Jean Monnet Series of Workshops on Cross-Border Litigation in Europe

Mihail Danov is a “key academic staff member” in a research project which is led by Professor Beaumont from the University of Aberdeen Centre for Private International Law (See more < http://www.abdn.ac.uk/law/private-international-law/events.shtml >). The aim of the project, which is funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union (the Jean Monnet Scheme), is to promote the debate on how cross-border litigation functions across Europe. In this context, a Jean Monnet series of Workshops on “Cross-Border Litigation in Europe” are being organised. All seven workshops are held in the UK and gather academics from across Europe. Out of these, three workshops take place in Brunel.

Brunel Law School Academics Short-listed for University-wide Student-led Teaching Awards in three categories of Excellence (2012-13)

Professor Benedict Tendayi Chigara was shortlisted for the Inspirational Teaching Award alongside two other colleagues from the School of Arts; Dr Faye Fangfei Wang alongside two others for the Postgraduates' Choice Award; and Michael O'Sullivan alongside two others for The Exceptional Module Award

SHARED Research Project on Shared Responsibility in International Law

The Company and Commercial Law Group workshop:“Corporate governance and corporate social responsibility”

The interdisciplinary workshop brought together researchers and academics in the areas of company law, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. Speakers at the event included Dr Chizu Nakajima, Dr Dimitrios N. Koufopoulos, Dr Angela Ayios and Dr Olufemi Amao.

Over 100 consumer law experts congregate at the13th conference of the International Association of Consumer Law hosted at Brunel

The Brunel Law School hosted the IACL Conference on 27th to 29th June 2011. This conference takes place every two years and is an eagerly awaited meeting point for consumer law academics and practitioners alike from all around the World. This year's theme was "Protecting consumers in Economic Recessions".
