Dr Gabriella Spinelli

 

Dr Gabriella Spinelli is a Reader in Design Innovation in the Department of Design at Brunel University London.  Her work explores the relationship between health &wellbeing, identity and design interventions. Gabriella’s research focuses on how the design of products, services and systems can be done so as to support people in their physical, cognitive  emotional and social needs and aspirations. Her past research has centred on the exploitation of mental models and knowledge structures to facilitate technology adoption among older adults.  Currently she is working on a community-based project to make the care and support of the ageing population accessible and sustainable.  Gabriella’s research is people-centred to ensure integrity and inclusion.  She has attracted research funds from EPSRC, ESRC, TSB, Innovate UK, the Daiwa foundation and commercial schemes. She is a Trustee of Timebanking UK and an associate editor for the Journal of Design, Business and Society.
