Launch of new Business Master Classes are a top success

On Wednesday 8th October, 18 students from across the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences had the opportunity to take part in the very first session of our newly launched Business Master Classes delivered by Audrey Tang, Brunel Business School Alumni and Founder of the successful and dynamic Click Productions.

“Hard skills get you interviews, soft skills get you jobs”- Audrey Tang

In the first of 12 sessions, Audrey took the students on a journey of self-discovery using Fisher’s change model, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and applying the Circle of Influence to each student’s individual concerns and working in groups students were enabled to analyse what motivated them through their own personal stories.

Moving far away from the traditional lecture/seminar style of teaching the Business Master Classes are professional development courses designed to motivate and develop students giving them a depth of reflective learning in a professional style. The Brunel Business Life programme is dedicated to providing professional services for students to change the way that current graduates think, their personal branding in the current economic job market and how our graduates are perceived. The Business Master Class Series is an exciting new addition to the programme that aims to get students to think with a professional mind set from the moment they join Brunel University all the way through to when they embark on their professional career.

Speaking to a final year, Business and Management student Rachit Popat, an international student; ‘got an opportunity to be part of the workshop – Managing Change… It took us through an amazing journey of how change happens in our lives and how vital it is in every individual’s life. Moreover, in today’s session we went through several concepts of business and management like Fisher’s change model, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, fish philosophy that we could use and relate to our personal lives… today’s session not only helped me overcome my weaknesses but also helped me focus on my goals’.

Audrey will be delivering sessions on Wednesday afternoons over October to January covering time management, communication, conflict resolution, team effectiveness, coaching, networking skills and more…
