Prof Sir Charlie Bean joins the Economics and Finance Advisory Board

The Department of Economics and Finance at Brunel University London is delighted to welcome Prof Sir Charlie Bean to the department’s External Advisory Board.

Prof Sir Charlie Bean has forged an illustrious and well-decorated career that includes the role of Deputy Governor for Monetary Policy at the Bank of England from 2008 to 2014, President of the Royal Economic Society from April 2013 and being knighted in the 2014 for his service to monetary policy and central banking.

Aside from his service at the Bank of England, Prof Sir Charlie has acted in a variety of public policy roles including consultant to HM Treasury, special adviser to the Treasury Committee of the House of Commons and to the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, as well as acting as special adviser to the House of Lords enquiry into the European Central Bank.

Professor Ashley Braganza, Head of the Economics and Finance Department said, “Prof Sir Charlie Bean will make an excellent addition to the Board and his association with our Department will raise our profile as a leading university in this field. His presence on our Advisory Board guarantees the highest standards of programmes will continue to be offered by our department.”
