Work Experience

We are committed to the principle of employability and to producing graduates who are flexible and resourceful enough to flourish in a highly competitive job market. Our programme is designed to ensure not only that our students are well versed in film practice and film theory but also that they have a sound understanding of how the film and television industry works and of what kinds of careers might be available to them after they graduate.

In their final year, all students have the opportunity to take a work experience module (taught by an industry professional) that requires them to complete a 70-hour placement with a suitable employer. We encourage our students to think flexibly about where they might apply their skills and we have close links with a wide range of employers. Over the last year, students have completed placements with the Pinewood Group (film and television production facilities), Objective Productions (television production company), Journeyman Pictures (film distribution company), BalletBoyz (Emmy-award winning dance and film company), WaterAid (international development charity), amongst many others.
