Welcome to Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering at Brunel University London takes inspiration from our Victorian namesake – Isambard Kingdom Brunel – and builds on the solid foundations of his tradition by uniting it with the very cutting edge of the subject. Students at Brunel are equipped with the experience, skills and innovative energy necessary to literally engineer the new century: becoming graduates who can push the boundaries and deliver the next generation of roads, bridges, tunnels, flood protection, waste recycling, sustainable building construction and seamless construction management.
Sustainability lies at the heart of the Brunel ethos, embedding a ‘cradle-to-cradle (C2C)’approach being called for today by major national and international engineering organisations. Our recently revitalised technical facility, the Joseph Bazalgette Laboratories and Joseph Lowe Research Centre, hands our students and researchers the latest technologies for developing and testing innovative materials – and even highly original designs and large-scale structures. Outside links also mean opportunities to develop expertise off-campus, such as through site investigation and design.
Our graduate employment statistics are excellent. Uptake of our MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering with Sustainability grew strongly over the last decade, and it continues to win professional recognition. We have now extended our offering to include a MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering, as well as three postgraduate programmes (MSc in Water Engineering, MSc Structural Engineering, and MSc Project and Infrastructure Management).
