Congratulations! You can breathe a sigh of relief now you have accepted your place.

No you need to find somewhere to live and secure your finances.

Book your accommodation

Many universities will do their best to find something suitable on campus for first year students. If this is not possible, they will be able to offer help and advice on finding something suitable nearby.

Be prepared to make some compromises and be more flexible when looking last minute. But before you start your search, manage your expectations and make a list of your key requirements.

Universities won’t allow you to book accommodation or a room until you have accepted their offer. Be sure to do this as soon as you’re happy with your choice so you receive your student ID number quickly. Accommodation at Brunel is a first come first serve basis, so, even though all first years receive accommodation, you are more likely to get your preferences if you apply ASAP.

Get your finances in order

If you have already applied for student finance but your university details have changed due to Clearing or Adjustment, you will need to inform your funding authority of the changes. You can do this quickly and easily by logging into your student finance account online. If you haven’t yet applied for student finance, you can still apply but be aware your funding provider may not be able to process your application in time for the beginning of your course.

Visit the campus and surrounding area

Did you go on a campus tour? Why not see if there are any more before the start of term and get a head start on your bearings whilst having a peak into campus life. Alternatively, most universities have virtual tours on their website so you can easily access and navigate around key areas of campus.

Use social media and join groups

Follow your chosen universities and keep-up-to date with key Fresher’s Week information. Joining social media groups is a great way to meet new friends and get a sense of what student life is going to be like.

Apply for student finance in England or Wales. If you’re now a Brunel student, apply for accommodation using your Brunel ID.
