Brunel Access Scholarships

The University will provide Access Scholarships to 380 new students each year from under-represented groups and/or mature students.

Value:

  • Level 1: £1,000
  • Level 2: £1,500 (subject to meeting progression criteria)
  • Level 3: £2,000 (subject to meeting progression criteria)

Taken either as:

  • (a) a fee waiver or
  • (b) discount on the cost of on-campus accommodation or
  • (c) a cash award

Application
Eligible applicants submitting their UCAS application prior to 15 January deadline, and who are made an offer to study at Brunel, will be given access to an online scholarship application form which must be completed and submitted by 10 March. Successful applicants will be informed of their conditional scholarship offer by the end of March. Conditional scholarships will be confirmed in early September. Any scholarships remaining unallocated may be awarded in early September.

Eligibility (Eligibility criteria are reviewed annually)

To be eligible for consideration of an Access Scholarship, a student must:

  • meet at least one of the following under-represented criteria;
    • be a care leaver
    • come from a low participation neighbourhood
    • be a mature student aged 21 or above at the start of their course
    • have an assessed household income of £25,000 or less
    • have attended a maintained school or college in one of the six London Boroughs with whom the University operates Widening Participation Partnerships: Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow
    • have a disability (including dyslexia)
    • come from a low socio-economic background
    • be in the first generation of their family to study in higher education
  • be an ordinarily resident in England (excludes those living in Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, EU or Overseas Territories, Gibraltar);
  • be eligible to receive a tuition fee loan from Student Finance England and have consented to the sharing of data submitted to the Student Loans Company;
  • have applied to Brunel University by 15 January UCAS deadline;
  • have made Brunel University their firm choice through UCAS by 9 May;
  • have submitted a completed scholarship application by 10 March.
