Computing Scholarships
The Computing Scholarship is open to all students who choose to undertake any undergraduate computing degree programme in the Department of Information Systems and Computing.
Value: £1000 in year 1, payable in three installments on:
- First week of December
- First week of March
- First week of June

Application
Students who make an application to UCAS by 15 January and submit a completed Brunel scholarship application by 10 March will be considered for a Computing Scholarship. Applicants must make Brunel their firm choice (either Conditional Firm or Unconditional Firm with UCAS). Those who apply after 15 January will only be considered if funds remain after the confirmation of scholarship awards following the publication of A-level results.
Eligibility
(Eligibility criteria are reviewed annually)
To be eligible for consideration of an International Academic Excellence scholarship, a student must:
- achieve A-level grades of at least AAB. Students who achieve 35 points from the International Baccalaureate Diploma will also be eligible;
- eligibility is restricted to students paying Home/EU fees.
Terms and Conditions 2012/13
1. UCAS Applications
All students who choose to undertake any undergraduate computing degree programme in the Department of Information Systems and Computing will be eligible for a scholarship.
Students cannot receive more than one scholarship. If they are eligible for more than one scholarship, they will be awarded the one which will be the most financially beneficial.
Main Scheme Applications
Students who make an application to UCAS by 15 January and submit a completed Brunel scholarship application by 10 March will be considered for a Computing Scholarship. Clearing Applications
Applicants who wish to come to Brunel through Clearing may be considered for a scholarship, should any remain unallocated, although preference will be given to students who made Brunel their firm choice through UCAS main scheme.
2. Award
Successful students will receive £1000 in year 1, payable in three installments.
Eligibility
Students must achieve A-level grades of at least AAB. Students who achieve 35 points from the International Baccalaureate Diploma will also be eligible. Eligibility is restricted to those students paying UK fees.
3. Allocation
The 10 Scholarships will be allocated conditionally in March and confirmed once the A-level results are available. Any scholarships not allocated at that time, will be given firstly to late applicants and, secondly, on a first come basis to students applying through Clearing or whose results are received late. Successful students will be informed by email or letter at the beginning of September.
4. Payments
Awards will be payable on the following dates:
- First week of December
- First week of March
- First week of June
[Please note that students who withdraw before the end of the academic year may be asked to repay part of their scholarship.]
Conditions of Scholarship Payment
All payments will be made direct to a bank account provided that:
- the student is enrolled at the University on an undergraduate degree programme of study at the time of the payment;
- the student has abided by the Rules of Discipline, as stated in Senate Regulation 6;
- the student has no debts with Brunel University;
- the student has a UK bank account.
Withdrawal of Scholarship
The University reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship from anyone who is found to have misled the University about any aspect of their eligibility and to seek repayment of any monies already paid by appropriate means.
If a student changes to a programme of study outside the Department of Information Systems and Computing, the scholarship will be withdrawn.
