Environmental Monitoring (IE 5507) – 30 credits
Delivered by the Institute for the Environment, throughout term 2 (approximately 6 hrs/week for 12 weeks).
Main aims of the module:
- To learn the key aspects of sampling techniques in acquiring representative samples of air, soil and water for environmental monitoring along with the key analytical techniques. Development of the practical skills in monitoring of environmental pollution. To study the practical methods for the investigation of air, soil and water quality

Assessment:
There is an examination which accounts for 30% of the overall assessment and coursework (70%. An indicative content of the coursework assessment includes 6 reports of 1500-2000 words each on a mixture of practical sessions and site visits [10% each] and an oral presentation.
