What to send
Your completed application
You must complete either an online application form (through UCAS for undergraduate courses, or our online application system for postgraduate courses), or a paper form. The most important part of the form is your personal statement: see our Top Tips for your Personal Statement page. We recommend that you apply using our online application system if possible. This reduces any chances of errors and should mean a faster response.
If you are unable to apply online you can download and complete a PDF of our paper form, or pick on up from one of the education fairs we attend, or at the offices of one of our representatives.
If you are using the paper form, please make sure that:
- The person making the application has signed and dated it.
- The form is filled in clearly. We reccommend using block capitals and black ink.
- The full name of the course you are applying for must be entered as listed on the course page.
- If you are applying through one of our authorised representatives, they must ensure they have entered their details in the correct section.
- It is very important that we have your contact details, in case we need to contact you about your application.
Your Highest Academic Qualifications
For students applying for an Undergraduate degree, we will need to see your high school certificate and transcripts or equivalent (see our country pages for more details on what qualifications we accept). For students applying for Postgraduate and research courses it will be- If applying online or by email these should be scanned and included as PDF or jpg files.
- If applying by post you should include either your original certificates (if you are only applying to us), or verified copies.
- If you certificates are not in English then we will need copies of the originals as well as verified copies of translations.
Verified Copies
- The University or Institution that issued them.
- One of our authorised Representatives in your country
- The British Council
- A Lawyer or other legal professional of good standing who is not related to you.
Evidence that you meet the English language requirements for your course
All international students must supply evidence of this, even if your native language is English (though if this is the case a high school english qualification is usually sufficient). Please see your country page for a list of accepted qualifications. You can find the requirments for most courses in the course finder. If you have not yet taken a test then Brunel offers its own BrunELT that you can take instead of IELTS or TOEFL.
A copy of your passport
We need a copy of the details page of your passport, or whichever pages include the following information: Name, Photo, Date of Birth, Nationality, Place of issue, Date of Issue, Date of Expiry. We do not need scans of any previous visas or other travel documentation.
Two References (Postgraduate students only)
Your two references should either enclosed with the application or sent to us separately by your referee (you should still give us details of the referees on the form). References should be written on the headed paper of the institution or employer. The two references should be:
- An academic reference from the academic institution your most recently attended, and
- Either another academic reference, or a reference from your current or most recent employer.
