Beginners' Russian


Russian is the most widely spoken native language in Europe, with more than 275 million people speaking it as either a primary or secondary language. Russian is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and is a lingua franca throughout Eastern Europe, a legacy of Russia's superpower status. It has been etimated that 60–70% of all world information is published in both English and Russian. Over a quarter of the world's scientific literature is also published in Russian. English words that have Russian roots include mammoth, vodka and bistro.

Level: Beginner - For those who have no prior knowledge of this language.
