Brunel University welcomes Korean Olympic team to campus
We are delighted to welcome Team Korea who arrived at Brunel campus on Friday 20 July for their pre-Games training camp. This is a momentous occasion for the Team Korea who first attended the Olympics as a nation in London in 1948. We are glad that this time the journey has taken slightly shorter than the 18 days it took them to arrive in London in 1948.
The team is making full use of the excellent sporting facilities we offer at Brunel. Amongst the Korean athletes training at Brunel are a number of defending Olympic champions in sports such as Badminton, Swimming and Taekwondo. The Republic of Korea finished seventh in the medal table in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and is the most successful team in Olympic history in Archery and Taekwondo.
The news of Team Korea staying at Brunel has attracted huge media interest in South Korea. We have a number of major TV channels and newspapers staying on Brunel campus covering the team’s activities in the lead up to the Olympic games; including the TV channels SBS, KBS MBC, Airang and Chanel A to name a few. We have also been featured in a number of newspaper articles including the Korean Times.
